Plywood, postcards
Collection Ginette Moulin / Guillaume Houzé, Paris
Galerie Chantal Crousel, Paris
Postcards, outmoded objects if ever there were, are displayed on a wooden plank. The way they are shown recalls the classic pinning of notes and messages to a cork notice board in a spirit that is very 1980s. These recycled images display no particular interest for viewers, and this absence allows them to focus on the use that Clément Rodzieslski makes of them. Riddled with drilled holes, they have been subjected to a barbarous erasure of their subjects, conjuring up the rough treatment of time’s passing, which dulls and drains images in our memory.
