A slightly faded idyllic and generic image of a mountain lake has been folded, unfolded and refolded again and again, a technique practiced by Clément Rodzieslski. The original landscape is now lost beneath the white lines that have formed on the surface of the worn paper. It’s as if we are looking at the scene through an irregular grid, recalling the effect of a kaleidoscope. The simplicity of the artist’s gesture, done on a nondescript poster, leads viewers to question the conditions bearing on the circulation of images in our society, an allusion to those various images found in our pockets and bags whose tattered condition echoes all our movements.
