Mark Geffriaud
Born in 1977. Lives and works in Paris.
Mark Geffriaud’s works sketch out a fragmentary archeology based on free associations and formal parallels, shaped around questions touching on the circulation and perception of images and forms. Placing the image at the heart of his investigations, the artist is interested in both their appearance condition and their materiality. The thinness of the paper, the transparency between front and rear sides of the sheet, the play of different framings, the relationship of the ink to the paper… Set out on the floor, laid on the corner of a table, or hung on the wall, dog-eared, crumpled or folded, the images that the artist uses are arranged according to displays that question their reading and put their organizing principle in perspective.
