Cyprien Gaillard
Born in Paris in 1980.

Between vandalism and a minimalist aesthetic, romanticism and Land Art, Cyprien Gaillard’s work questions humans’ trace in nature in an iconoclastic way. Whether commissioning from a landscape painter rural scenes of Swiss suburbs that frame austere high-rise apartment buildings within their lush natural environment (Swiss Ruins, 2005), or inserting modernist towers in 17th century Dutch landscape engravings (Believe in the Age of Disbelief, 2005), Gaillard represents contemporary architecture as a modern ruin on the point of being overrun by nature.
He is represented by Bugada & Cargnel (Paris. )
