“We envision this project as a living residency: a regular immersion in the storage areas and archives, punctuated by opportunities to exchange ideas with the curators who bring these collections to life, as well as textile research workshops and on-site experiments. Our creative process is, first and foremost, a sensory and hands-on approach: we need to touch, explore, and observe the details that are lost in static images. We aim to offer a versatile textile collection that bridges the gap between clothing, furniture, and installation art.
Each piece will be designed to be worn, moved, and reconfigured, directly echoing an archival fragment identified during the residency.
We design textile objects that are both narrative and versatile, inspired by the department store’s archives, which can transition from one use to another and adapt to both spaces and bodies.
This project is part of an effort to sensitively reinterpret our heritage through an approach in which modularity becomes a vehicle for transmission.ˮ
