Felice Varini works in situ in a different place each time, and his work evolves in relation to the spaces he encounters. A painter of real space, he began his training in Geneva where, with a diploma in interior design, he was introduced to drawing and the creation of sets for the theatre.

In 1978, Felice Varini moved to Paris and resumed his studies. It was at this time that he perfected his knowledge of art history and began to develop his practice as a painter in space. Since then, this key artist on the contemporary scene has continued to refine his technique, which now allows him to work on projects of both intimist and monumental dimensions. His work has the particularity of using architectural exterior spaces in different public places to integrate them into his paintings and create optical illusions.

As one of the great contemporary European artists of geometric abstraction (along with Daniel Buren, Niel Toroni, etc.), Felice Varini has exhibited and created works all over the world, in cities, ports, cultural spaces, streets and private homes.
