Katinka Bock
Born in 1976 in Frankfurt. She lives and works in Paris.
Katinka Bock’s work is shaped around her constant search for balance or a tenuous stability that proves easily destroyed. Through the use of elemental or mineral materials like water, glass, unbaked clay and stone, or the vegetable matter from which wood and paper are derived, the artist produces delicate artifacts that seem to gather within themselves the energy of the venue. Her works are spare; they pick up the tensions of the existing space, whether it is pictorial and bound within a frame, or architectural and, in that sense, infused with history.
