Members of the D’Days between 2009 and 2013, Galeries Lafayette are proud to strengthen their support to Design Parade by offering visibility to the creation of a young designer.

For the annual edition of this event, which brings together economic and cultural agents around design, Galeries Lafayette give to the designer the possibility to invest the twelve windows of Lafayette Maison.

Founding element of the identity of the company, the democratization of fashion and fine art have made Galeries Lafayette a privileged mediator between the artistic creation and the public at large. Founded so as to make the beautiful accessible to all, Galeries Lafayette quickly expand its already existing commitment toward fashion to fine art and design. In 1922, Galeries Lafayette open its fine art workshops, “La Maitrise”, to edit furniture, fabric, carpets, wallpapers, ceramics and so forth, in collaboration with artists of its times. The interior designers and twin brothers Jean and Jacques Adnet were among the first contributors, to be soon joined by the young Charlotte Perriand, anf after the war by Serge Mouille, Pierre Paulin and Marc Berthier. Being the first to popularize the Italian design with the Domus exhibition in 1967, Galeries Lafayette also made its customers discover the modernity of Scandinavian design. By these initiatives, the company therefore expressed its faith in the industrial production, in serial fabrication and access to creation.
