In springtime, on the Kunisaki peninsula, the mountains are clothed in cherry blossom, while fields of flowering rapeseed stretch out at their feet. Faced with this natural landscape, the teamLab team wondered how many of these flowers had been planted by man and how many were indigenous. This is a place of great serenity and well-being, but this vast expanse of flowers is an ecosystem influenced by human intervention, and the boundary between nature and human action is blurred. It's pointless to pit nature against man. A healthy ecosystem must include humans. In the past, people understood that they couldn't understand nature in its entirety, and that it was impossible to control it. They lived more in harmony with the laws of nature, which created a pleasant natural environment.
"We believe that these valleys have retained minute traces of this pre-modern relationship with nature that once existed, and we're looking to explore a form of human intervention based on the principle that nature cannot be controlled."
