The interpretation, the mise en abîme of his own universe, the representation, Jean Luc Verna mixes his image with that of his heroes or heroines: he makes his show. "Aren't you wearing a lot of make-up? No. " The title of most of his exhibitions over the last 10 years sets the tone: art is a decoy, it's all about artifice, glitter, pretense, at the bend of which the deep meaning of things is revealed, a tragicomic cabaret. Drawing, cinema, photography, music, or the artist's own body are the supports of a demanding approach through which Verna asserts herself as a visual artist as polymorphous as she is relevant and coherent.
