Laurent Grasso
Born in 1972 in Mulhouse, France. He lives and works in Paris and New York.
Whether (re)activating more or less identifiable forms of our surveillance society or reappropriating the film techniques and conventions shaping our collective imagination, Laurent Grasso creates installations that have a strong potential for narrative, mixing ancestral fears, scientific accounts and threatening contemporary mythologies. Grasso regularly turns to light, sound, radio and electromagnetic waves and natural, meteorological or paranormal phenomena in his works to create novel sensorial experiences. These become vectors for spotty, disjointed fictions that demand to be completed by the viewer.
