Ester Manas x Galeries Lafayette
Winner of the 2018 Galeries Lafayette prize at the International Fashion, Photography and Accessories Festival in Hyères, Ester Manas has signed a capsule collection for Galeries Lafayette in 2019.
For the fifth consecutive year, the company is inviting one of the competition's finalists to collaborate with the Galeries Lafayette brand and create an exclusive, affordable capsule collection. Both a mentoring programme and an exercise focused on the challenges of production and distribution on a department store scale, this collaboration allows the young designer to create a capsule collection in the image of his or her creative universe that will have seduced the Galeries Lafayette jury of experts.
At the end of this 33rd edition, Galeries Lafayette chose Ester Manas and her "Big Again" collection. While designing suits for active women, the designer was confronted with a size limit: it was impossible to fit into her prototypes and she had to enlarge them. Rather than a cover or a shell, she sees clothing as a revealing accessory that enhances singular beauty. Her "one size fits all" approach puts the human being back at the centre of attention, restoring strength and confidence.
