Born in 1961 in Geneva, where she lives and works.
Sylvie Fleury hijacks and appropriates the foundations of modern art through works whose visual impact is often paramount and denounces our consumer society. The artist, for example, reinterprets Piet Mondrian’s compositions with fake fur or the Daniel Buren’s columns, that suddenly appear heavy, as if warped by gravity. Her work has been shown, in particular, at major solo exhibitions at the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MAMCO), Geneva in 2008 as well as at the Bass Museum, Miami in 2015.
