Wesley Meuris alerts us to the quasi-totalitarian “life systems” put in place for wiretapping whole sections of the population or restricting exchanges based on security-related as well as economic reasons. Museums are not immune to those problems. Wesley Meuris looks at exhibitions per se. Not their content or ideology, but the ways and means by which exhibits are presented to the public. By examining rationalization and standardization procedures, classification and taxonomy, he exposes the seamy side of those cumbersome knowledge-transmission machines known as museums. Wesley Meuris was exhibited in many institutions including BOZAR (Brussels), at Galerie Jérôme Poggi (Paris) or SMAK (Ghent).
